I experienced burnout in two very different roles.
First, in corporate.
Then, after I left that world and became a stay-at-home mother.
The external role changed completely.
I thought the change of pace might change the experience.
But the truth is, because I hadn’t done the inner work, I hadn’t changed my patterning.
The pushing came with me.
The need to stay busy came with me.
The tendency to fill every bit of white space came with me.
Eventually, my body stopped me.
That became one of my biggest lessons:
Changing the external role doesn’t necessarily change the thing we’re really wanting to shift.
Sometimes a career change is absolutely aligned.
And sometimes the invitation is to look a little deeper first.
Why do I want the change?
What am I carrying into the next role?
What patterns might follow me there?
There is an inner journey that needs to occur alongside the outer one.
And sometimes, when we make those inner adjustments, we may discover that we can experience our current role very differently.
