For a long time, I filled every bit of white space.
In corporate, it looked like deadlines and constant activity.
As a mother, it looked different, but I created the same kind of environment.
There was always something to do.
Very little downtime.
Very little space to actually hear myself.
What I know now is this:
White space is not a luxury item.
It is recovery time.
It is shift-gears time.
It gives us a chance to take a breath, listen to our own wisdom, and let the nervous system relax a little.
And when I talk about rest, I’m talking about more than a massage or a long weekend.
I love those things.
But I could get a massage, pop right back up, and return to the same patterning.
The deeper rest came when I started looking at the low hum underneath everything.
The need to keep moving.
The perfectionism.
The feeling that if I slowed down, something might fall apart.
For me, real rest became possible when I addressed what was happening inside.
Now, rest is not something I have to escape somewhere to find.
It can be available in the moment.
Even here.
Even now.
